Back At Ya, 'Jungle Room'

Thank you to Phil over at jungleroom.com for the nice mention of Plunk Chronicles. He even mentioned Mike’s European tour in June with guitar hero James Burton.

Jungle Room is a website all about Memphis music and musicians, so you might want to give it a try at http://www.jungleroom.com/. Mike always reads about people he knows over there.

And the name – Jungle Room – is just perfect. For the only two or three of you who might not know, Elvis’ – shall we call it “play room”? – at Graceland was called the jungle room due to the motif. There was a lot of green shag carpet and, I believe, an indoor waterfall.

The room was commemorated in the line: “there’s a pretty little thing waiting for the King down in the jungle room” in Marc Cohn’s great song, Walking in Memphis. You can hear it on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrT0gAbRqyw

I think his Jungle Room was my favorite of all the rooms at Graceland. If you go to the Graceland website, they have a camera system set up where you can view the room and see all that green shag. It's fun.
