Harper Lee, We Miss You

Okay, I'm a Geek

I confess, but I won't do penance. I love punctuation. You forgot about that in high school? (Not you writers who are finding my site.) Here's what's important about the lowly comma.  It makes the difference between ---
Come to the dinner table and eat, gramaw.
And
Come to the dinner table and eat gramaw.

A bit different, right?
Love your comma.

Good Advice

I heard this today in a cd coursre I'm taking. The rule is 1/24 or 1/80. If your're writing a short story, sleep on it for 24 hours before deciding what to do with it. A longer piece -- give it 80 hours before editing it again and deterrming what to do.
 Sounded reasonable to me.
