That's Our Boy, Elvis

More Elvis memorabilia is being auctioned off. It’s too late to put in a bid, but you can check out the items and prices at http://www.gottahaverockandroll.com/Catalog.aspx.

One of the very special items on the block is a hand-written poem by EP that we’re told he sometimes recited on stage and was for a while the message on Graceland’s answering machine. I know you’ll be touched by its sentiment.

Ode to a Robin

As I awoke this morning
When all sweet things are born,
A robin perched on my windowsill
To greet the coming dawn.

He sang his sweet song so sweetly
And paused for a moment’s lull.
I gently raised the window
And crushed his f****ng skull.

That's the Elvis that really was...and the one I adore more than I did when I was a kid....the human being.

Still have those leaves you got me Diane...I never forgot your kindness to a teenager who had just lost her idol.
