Straight from Casablanca

Niece Shannon, who’s been living in exotic Morocco for about two years, is back in the USSA (United Southern States of America) for a long summer vacation. And she brought her husband Hassan with her for his first trip to this country.

Yesterday, Mike and I picked up mother and headed to Arkansas where Hassan got his first taste of a family get-together and the good Southern food that turns up at those events. He held up very well with everyone wanting to meet him and ask the same question – “what are your impressions of this country?” We were able to restrain ourselves because Shan and Hassan are coming over here to visit for a couple of days this week.

Later this month, they fly to California to visit some of Shan’s friends, then they’ll drive back cross-country affording Hassan a wonderfully long look at our beautiful country.

In the first photo you see Hassan, Shannon, Mike and me. With me in the second pic are mother, Shan and sis Betty who hosted the party at her house. Side note: when Mike and I married in ’04, Shannon was our maid of honor. When we married in the long-ago ceremony, Betty was my maid of honor. We keep it in the family.
